Dear Service Bodies,
As of April 29, 2023, four vacancies remain on the Board of Trustees. In accordance with the Bylaws of Overeaters Anonymous, the Board of Trustees may appoint qualified members to serve through World Service Business Conference 2024. To best serve OA, it is important to make these appointments as quickly as possible.
Basic qualifications for a trustee are: seven years in the Fellowship, five years of service beyond the meeting level, attendance as a delegate to at least two World Service Business Conferences, participation at the region level (the extent of participation to be determined by each region), current maintenance of a healthy body weight for at least two years, and five years of current continuous recovery in Overeaters Anonymous. The interactive application with instructions, and job description can be viewed and completed in the Document Library under category “Board of Trustees.” The completed application must be received at the World Service Office by Friday, June 2, 2023. The application may be emailed to info@oa.org or sent by certified mail to the World Service Office. An officer of the region must sign the application.
Initially, the appointed appointee would be a part of the Executive Committee, which conducts, manages, and controls the affairs and business of the corporation. The trustee will also be assigned to Board or Conference committees, and if deemed best for OA, region liaison work will be assigned.
Please let it be known throughout your area that the Board of Trustees is soliciting qualified members who are willing to step into this rewarding service position. You will be provided a trustee mentor, work with a great group of Fellows, learn new things, and better yet, you don’t have to do it alone. It is the intention of the board to appoint trustees as soon as possible but the board also reserves the right not to fill every position.
